Greece....

well apparently us americans brought the cold with us....on a beach island that is normally in the 80s at this time of year has been cold, a little rainy and just eh kinda weather. We went into Aegina town and explored around the port and cute shops. it is just too cold for the beach.... oh well.

Due to our early flight tomorrow to Rome from Athens we spent today in Athens so that we would not miss our flight tomorrow. We are staying in a small hotel outside of Athens near the airport. Eager to make the best of this crazy confusing Greek weather and stay we mastered Athens transportation and took the 171 bus to the metro, where we very cautiously grasped onto everything in our possession in anticipation of the alledged "pick-pocketing" and warnings there.

To our surprise and delight we felt more at ease and less confused on the metro than anywhere else so far in Greece. I suppose that was our Boston lifestyle at its best! We easily got onto the metro and went to the Acropolis and got to see the Parthenon! It was gorgeous and the sun came out to greet us therea After exploring this ancient landmark we stopped for a tasty sandwich and some local Mythos beer. This beer tastes like an improved bud light and is "the world's most famous hellenic beer". Beer in Greece is cheaper to order than both water and soda....America take note.

Above are some pictures from today!

After a long day we are safe and back at our room, eagerly awaiting our
flight into Italy tomorrow! The plan is to arrive in Rome around noon and take the train to Napoli!
